The Way Forward

I have been thinking a lot recently about the country, about the economy and trust me I don’t usually think along this line. So I was going through the papers and its really disheartening to see the state of Nigeria right now but let me not sound like I am here to rant again rather I am here with ideas to bring solutions.

The major issues in Nigeria presently are inflation and exchange rate, funny enough I found out that its a continental problem. Meaning its not limited to Nigeria alone. If you trace deeply the causes of these problems you’ll not be shocked to find high unemployment rate as a major factor.

How do we solve unemployment?

I went around asking genuine questions on this issue from professionals and older experienced folks and what I mostly got back was “ENTREPRENEURSHIP”

All well and good, I decided to take a poll on social media to make few enquiries on this term. I asked several questions like, “Would you prefer being an entrepreneur or rather work for someone else”, “Would you mind being an agricultural entrepreneur?”, “What are the challenges facing entrepreneurship in Nigeria?” and lastly “the sector where you’ll like to be based”.

So I got thinking, if we have 10 individual lowkey fashion designers yet to make it that come together to create a bigger brand, wouldn’t it increase employment?

Entrepreneurship is all about the freedom to thrive and enjoy what you love while getting paid. Most of us didn’t study what really loved or circumstances have opened our eyes. Jobs are getting harder to get but great business ideas are vast. I think young people with like minds should work together to succeed.

For instance, A, B, C and D are individuals who love fashion. A can draw or sketch pretty well but still lowkey and on the come up, B knows a lot of interested customers and has good marketing skills. C can sew while D takes great pictures but more personal.

Now, in a normal situation these people may never achieve their dreams but coming together to form a partnership, they can work together, create a big brand and also employ others.

Young people have a lot of time to explore, pursue their passion, take risks and make mistakes irrespective of what others say because at the end it is your life and no matter what you do, you can not please everyone.

Just saying…
